Burnt Mill Potters

Burnt Mill Potters

Karen Amundsen began her foray into crafts as a child with many projects in plastic canvas and cross-stitch. In high school, she worked part-time in a fabric store. While employed there she learn to sew, including prom dresses, numerous baby blankets, and home accessories. She also enjoyed drafting and architecture. Hence, she continued her education at Drexel University earning a bachelor of science in interior design. After graduation, her love of children drove her to earn masters and doctoral degrees in education and to become a teacher. For a while, children's crafts kept her love of art alive. Then she took some pottery classes and never stopped throwing, eventually creating a studio in the barn on her property. Making more pieces than she could give away, she began selling her creations for the pleasure of making more. Now her pieces can be found in homes across the globe, including Australia, Ireland, England, China, and Sweden.
