Experience the zen of creating functional works of art. In this class, students will learn the techniques for wheel-thrown and hand-built pottery from raw clay to finished vessel from an experienced, involved teacher. Classes are limited to seven participants of various abilities, therefore instruction is individualized to meet students’ skill level and goals.
Sessions begin in January, March, June and September. Classes are held once a week on Monday evening from 6:30 to 9:00 pm with Rob or Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:30 pm with Karen. They run for eight weeks. Class fee is $290 which includes instruction, throwing, glazing and firing. Students purchase 25 pound cubes of clay for $15 as needed.
Private lessons are available for one, two or three people. The instructor gives a wheel demonstration, then each guest works at a wheel with insightful guidance and assistance. Guests choose a glaze for each piece created. Pieces are picked up about three weeks later. Lessons fees are $60 per hour for one person, $90 per hour for two people or $120 for three people. Fees include all materials and firings.
Experienced potters can rent studio time for $15 per hour. This includes glazing and firing, but not instruction or clay.
